The linkage relations of ag.

Rick, C.M.

In TGC 5 I reported an indication of linkage between ag and H in contradiction of Butler's results. During 1955 segregations between these genes were tested in coupling phase and also between ag and the u-t combination. The following two families of F2 ag-H coupling were tallied:

                          conting.
           a b c d X^2 c.o.
______________________________________________
ag - H 244 67 64 53 23.7 .35
         142 29 39 31 19.8 .32

These figures agree fairly well with the mean of the two F2 repulsion values that I reported last year, 32.5 and remove doubt concerning the linkage.

Two families were grown of repulsion F2 tests in the ag vs t-u cross with the following results:

ag - t 47 22 18 0 7.7
        86 32 23 0 8.1

ag - u 46 21 18 3 2.3
        91 31 16 7 .3
It is therefore clear that ag lies in the vicinity of t in the region between t and Xa.
