EDITORIAL
It is being proposed by several of the members of the TGC that the Arabidopsis
genetic nomenclature rules be adopted by tomato geneticists. The suggestion
is based on a desire to use a unified nomenclature system for the many species
under study. This is especially important for those individuals dealing with
more than one species at a time. Reprinted here are 1) an anotated version of
the Arabidopsis rules, keying them to the appropriate section of the more
extensive tomato rules (editors keying notes are in italicized courier type
face) , and 2) the tomato rules reprinted from earlier volumes of the TGC
Reports.
An informal meeting is planned for the Davis Tomato Workshop in August to
discuss this proposal. If you will not be able to attend and wish to comment
