During the last year we tested 80 breeding lines with different wild species in their pedigree with inoculum mixture of 12 isolates of A. solani. The inoculation was made after Andrus (1941) and Dhiman's (1980) methods and evaluation was done on the basis of Barksdale and Stoner's scale (1973). The data shown in Table 1 represent only the results from late progenies of the cross Ideal x L. pennellii.
Moderate level of resistance was found in lines 1155/87 and 1149/87 as far as leaf symptoms are concerned. The same lines showed high level of resistance to stem canker. Moderate resistance to these phases of A. solani was recorded for line 1154/87. Moderate resistance to collar rot was found only in line 1148/87. All tested lines are indeterminate with round middle size fruits and resistance to ToMV. To our information this is the first report on resistance to different phases of A. solani found in tomato lines with L. pennellii in their pedigree.
