Dr. Khush has been responsible for a significant portion of the pioneering cytogenetics research with tomato. He started this research under the tutelage of Dr. C.M. Rick, and has made major contributions to the cytogenetics of tomato both in his lab and later. He is currently one of the international leaders in rice genetics and breeding.
