issued in TGC 28 and 31).
Revised list of available gene stocksThe following list of accessions, comprising stocks of 688 monogenic mutants, is a revision of the list that was issued in TGC 31. Certain obsolete items have been dropped, and newly acquired gene stocks have been added. Although viable seeds of each listed accession are available, the supply of certain accessions is limited by short storage life or poor reproductivity. The lines are true-breeding except for male steriles, other inherited sterilities, homozygous-inviable dominants, etc., all of which are propagated via heterozygotes. For many of the genes several stocks are offerred; the first listed accession is usually a non-combinant stock, the others, often combinations with other genes. A revised list of the combination stocks and their component genes will be prepared for TGC 35. See Research Note by C. M. Rick for other news about recent accessions of the TGSC. Additional information concerning origin and other aspects of the stocks listed below will be furnished on request.

Rick, C.M. New Additions to the Tomato Genetics Stock Center.1. The E. A. Kerr Collection.
On retirement, Ernie Kerr had the foresight to prepare stocks from his programs at Vineland and Simcoe to make them available for acquisition by the TGSC. Further, he prepared a list of the items, which are logically classified for the convenience of the user. The entire list totals 777 stocks of several highly useful categories, including: a) monogenic stocks, b) possible and probable linkages of new and unlocated genes, c) markets for chromosome 10, d) compounds containing unlocated genes, and e) miscellaneous compound parker stocks (the largest group).
We are processing this large collection for incorporation into the TGSC. Seeds of items duplicated in the present TGSC list have been added to the proper accessions. To the extent that our resources permitted in 1983, we increased new accessions deemed to be of highest priority, including new monogenic lines, chromosome 10 testers, and certain multigenic stocks. All monogenic accessions. All monogenics successfully increased in 1983 are listed in the appended TGSC stock list. Compounds increased in 1983 and 1984 will be listed in TGC 35. In the meanwhile, if you need items in groups not yet listed, please check with us to see if we have seeds of suitable lines. For reasons of duplication and seed inviability, parts of the Kerr collection will not be accessioned.
2. The J. W. Lesley Collection.
After the recent passing of Dr. J. W. Lesley, we inquired about the availability of stocks from his collections. Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Margaret M. Lesley and Dr. Bob Soost of UC-Riverside, we are now in possession of certain items from this collection that will be accessioned in 1984. Having been rather drastically culled by Jim Lesley, this collection is relatively small.
3. Recent accessions from Dr. Carlos Ochoa.
The TGSC and, indirectly, all tomato researchers, are the beneficiaries of some exceedingly important tomato species collections provided over a period of many years by Dr. Carlos Ochoa of CIP, Lima, Peru. Some of the more recent acquisitions are particularly noteworthy. Amongst these are a series of collections of Solanum lycopersicoides, which more than double the number of TGSC accessions of thi.Is fascinating species. Of these new items, two (LA2407 and 2408) are the first collections made in Chile, just across the frontier with Peru and not very distant from the collections previously made in the Palca district (Dept. Tacna, Peru).
Of these two Chilean lycopersicoides, LA2408 merits special attention. Dr. Ochoa (letter of May 6. 1982) wrote the following: "Collected above Putre, alt. 3450 M, Prov. Tarapaca, Chile. Isolated plants from 0.5 m or more in height. Very bushy and branched. Full of flowers and fruits. For sure, atypical from the Palca (Peru) or Aricota (Peru) (lines) and will be considered a new form or maybe a new variety. The most interesting feature is that this collection is highly resistant to cold and therefore must have great hardiness. Putre is a very cold place and is located in the bottom of a valley formed by the Putre volcano, which has great glaciers."
