LINKAGE SUMMARY

The following reports have been received from linkage cooperators.

Chromosome 1 -- R. K. Soost. No new information.

Chromosome 2 -- L. Butler. The new mutants ff, suf, dil, wv, and op are now being classified in F2 populations, and a new map of this group should be ready before next year. Infomation revealing the locus of wv 7.5 units to the right of Me is reported in a note on page 20.

Chromosome 3 -- G. W. Bohn. Progreas has been made in placing m\9s, and F2 seed is available which should produce ms\9-r-wf tester stocks.

Chromosome 4 -- N. K. Notani. After getting back here (Bombay) I am trying to pick up where I was interrupted. I am now in the process of making crosses between ra and e, but linkage values will not be available until next year.

Chromosome 6 -- T. C. Gilbert. We obtained some crosses of Mi and ri stocks but have not yet produced the backcross seed and so will have to wait for a future report to locate the ri gene. The gene og is situated close to sp according to a research note on page 21.

Chromosome 7 -- B. W. Young. From available data (insufficient for statistical significance) the gene order appears to be as follows:

                      wt------tf------mc Fw?
                       \ \ /
                        \ \ /
                         \ \ /
                          n Bp gq?
Chromosome 8 -- C. M. Rick. We grow a 4-point F2 from dl-bu-l\1 x ch. Although the family was small it largely confirmed previous map locations but suggested that ch might be considerably more to the left of l\1 than indicated in the last linkage map and possibly even to the left of bu.

Chromosome 9 -- C. M. Rick. Nothine new to report. Suggest that this group be handed over to Dick Robinson.

Chromosome 10 -- E. A. Kerr. Most of my work has been centered on 1960 results confirm the general position of the Various genes except that the distance between H and l\2 is greater than indicated in TGC 10. I am having difficuty with the double recessives l\s\t and nd l\2, but believe I have nd t. I have no further data with Ia but additional t^v^ag data suggests that Xa is at the extreme end of tho chromosome.

Group V -- A. B. Burdick. The latest linkage information is given in a research note on page 6.

Group rv-sf -- W. Williams. I have isolated the double recessive at last and have some segregating families in prospect. The marker genotype is extremely difficult to manipulate since the components of the style are not fused and one gets a polystylic carpel which is difficult to pollinate and highly infertile.

Additional linkages for Dr. Stubbe's new mutants are reported in research notes on pages 7, 14, and 22 of this Report.
