Linkage tests with mutants of Stubbe's group I.

Rick, C. M. and F. W. Martin.

A systematic attempt is being made to ascertain the respective chromosome for each of the mutants in Stubbe's first group (Kulturpfl. 5:190-220) that can readily be identified in the seedling stage. Approximately 30 have proved to be workable as seedling mutants in our experience. Of these, six proved to be allelic to previously known genes according to determinations by Dr. Stubbe and ourselves (rob^imm and rob^crisp allelic with d\1, fru with bu, rub with l\1, tri with tf, and brac with au). Of the remainder significant indications of linkage have been detected for nine. A resume of the tests completed between these nine and an assortment of various chromosome markers is given in the following table. Therein linkages are designated by L. no significant departures from random recombination, by x.

Data for the significant linkage teste and crossover values estimated by the product moment method are given in the following table. Data of the other tests listed in the preceding table are not presented here but can be furnished to anyone who might be interested.

Seeds of mutants and other relevant lines have been sent to the cooperators for the respective chromosomes.
