An announcement for submissions for Volume 58 (2008) will be made in April 2008.  Inclusion is guaranteed in Volume 58 if submission is received by July 31, 2008, However, the final deadline is September 1, 2008.  As always, articles should be as concise as possible.  Submissions (preferably in Microsoft Word) may be emailed as an attachment or mailed to the Managing Editor.

Guidelines for Submission

 GENERAL
Please read and follow these guidelines.  Keep in mind that in order to publish the printed version of the Report, we must reformat and combine many documents submitted in a number of different styles into a single uniform document.  That single document will not only serve as the source of the printed Report, but also the digital code that will be converted into *.HTML and *.pdf format for online publication.  Our job can be made much easier if you:

1)  Convert your paper to Microsoft Word format and test to make sure it opens with a compatible version of Microsoft Word without problems.

2)  Limit the amount of formatting you impose on your document to a minimum.  We will set the margins, breaks, page numbering, and align/justify graphics.

3)  Make sure all electronic materials are PC compatible.  We do not have access to a Mac.

4)  Include an electronic version of ALL materials contained in your paper, especially the source files for any graphics in their native format.  More info click here.

5)  Include separate image files for all images you have pasted into your text document.  Acceptable formats include *.jpg, *.bmp, *.tif. *.gif., *.eps, *.cpt, & *.psd; however, jpeg images (*.jpg) re-sampled to the actual intended size at 300 dpi are preferred and will reproduce best in the printed version of the Report.

EMAIL

Read and apply the general guidelines above.  Use WinZip to combine your files (including the text version of your paper, graphics files, and image files) and attach the *.zip file to an email.  Failure to do so may result in your email being blocked by our spam filter.  When your file attachment is ready, click here or email to jwsc@ifas.ufl.edu with "Submission for TGC Report Vol. 58" in the subject box.  More info click here.

MAIL
Read and apply the general guidelines above.  Mail to the editor at the address below.  Include the electronic versions of your paper's text, graphics files, and image files on PC compatible diskettes or a CD, as well as a hard copy of your paper and instructions for how to contact you.  More info click here.

More on including source files:

If the electronic version of your paper has graphics that were originally created in another program like Excel, PowerPoint, CorelDraw, or Adobe Illustrator and then pasted into the text document you submit, we may have a problem integrating your paper into the complete Report.  While not a frequent problem, this has wasted many hours of valuable time in the past and can be prevented in the future by providing us with a copy of all graphics files you use in their original format.  This of course does not apply to graphics that have already been converted to image files and are no longer editable anyway.  Even graphics submitted in *.eps (electronic post script) format have caused problems and while welcomed, we still would appreciate a copy of all graphics files in their original native format.
Separate files of images that have been pasted into your text document should also be included.  If they look good on your monitor, they will likely look good when published on the TGC Website; however, images should be at least 300 dpi at their intended published actual size in order to reproduce well in the printed version of the Report.  Acceptable formats include *.jpg, *.bmp, *.tif. *.gif., *.eps, *.cpt, & *.psd.  Images re-sampled at 300 dpi to the intended actual size will reproduce best in the printed version of the Report.  The preferred format is .jpeg (*.jpg).
STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?  It would probably be easier and faster to just send whatever you have as good as you have it and let us trim it down, but you may contact us for help if you need to.
